Negotiating Real Estate Deals

To be successful in house flipping you must be a good negotiator. Often times property investors deal with people that have never sold real estate before. These people could also be attached emotionally to the property they are selling. Often times these people have a false idea of a property’s worth solely due to sentimental reasons. It is much, much harder to negotiate with someone that is emotionally involved in a property. There will be times when no deal can be made and you will be forced to walk away from the deal, no matter how much you want the property. After all, you want to flip property to make money, it’s a business to you.

On the other hand, sometimes you can find great deals with someone that is desperate to sell their property. Perhaps they have had the property on the market for several months and they want to sell the property so they can make a large purchase they have been wanting to make for a long time. Sometimes these eager sellers would be willing to take a lower price just to get the property off their hands.

In the end, don’t be afraid to make a somewhat lower offer on a house to someone that is desperate to sell. Also, be prepared to walk away when the seller won’t budge on their price.
